TVA Productions asked Moment Factory to design and build the multimedia set for the new television game show Le Tricheur, broadcast daily on TVA network. Our team worked in close collaboration with the show’s creator, Olivier Aghaby, to create a unique set, emphasizing texture and light and renewing TV game show aesthetics. Each evening, players and the audience are immersed in a mysterious and startling visual setting.
Elements of the set respond to game events in real-time, creating a dynamic environment that gives each episode a unique feel. Moment Factory’s multimedia artists designed three video-mapping projection surfaces: a central orb, where the host directs the game; a panel showing the five players’ activities; and a large backdrop made up of several metres of LED strips, creating a sense of depth behind each contestant. Interaction between the set and players is managed by Moment Factory’s X-Agora software, which drives three media: light, sound and video. Two of the main technical hurdles were the calibration of mapping on the complex 3D surfaces,
and keeping X-Agora compatible with the other multimedia systems running on the set.
