Les Chemins Invisibles

For: Cirque du Soleil
Three tribes. Fog, Fire and Sand. Three colours. The public is invited to follow Cirque performers on three different journeys through the city streets. A fourth tribe, les Embarrasants, awaits their arrival at Îlot Fleurie. Tribes and colours merge as the visuals projected onto the urban infrastructure overhead create a cathedral of light and images.
Cirque du Soleil invited Moment Factory to collaborate by creating a video component for their free outdoor show Les Chemins Invisibles. It was important to create a multiplicity of potential experiences that bring people together to experience unexpected aspects of the urban environment.
Visual content was created in collaboration with Cirque du Soleil based on the colour and natural element of each tribe. The video is projected onto large semi-transparent screens and the architectural supports of the underside of the Dufferin-Montmorency Highway in the Saint-Roch district. Effectively, the tribes and their colourful narratives are integrated into the body of the city.
