Metropolis Marquee

Walking through the Quartier des spectacles, you start to see stars. As you get closer, you see Metropolis' stellar marquee twinkling with a thousand points of light. Illuminated, the names of famous musicians and performers playing at the renowned venue are highlighted.

Moment Factory was invited by Spectra and Le Quartier des spectacles to create a facade inspired by marquees of old using new, energy-efficient technology. The design mandate was to create a marquee that highlights Metropolis' significance as one of the city's key venues and highlights the artists playing there. The marquee makes use of the latest technology while updating the venerable venue's presence on the street.

To create Metropolis' new marquee, Moment Factory created a new facade out of anodized aluminium perforated with hundreds of stars, small and large. Illuminated by 900 ecologically-efficient fluorescent LEDs and controllable by DMX, the new marquee integrates the venue into the Quartier's spectacular urban lighting design and is fully supported technologically by Moment Factory.
