PROJECTS

Where: France 2009
For: Fête des Lumières, City of Lyon
Larger than life, an image of a goddess floats high above the audience. Hovering, material and immaterial, she claims the heavens. The sky is alive with drawings and images written in light against the darkness. Buildings come alive with light. Surrounded by projected imagery, performers gracing the stage bring heaven to earth.
Moment Factory was invited by the City of Lyon to create a tribute to the Lumière brothers and their contribution to cinema. A 25 minute performance was created that incorporated music, song, dance, lighting effects and video projections onto a massive invisible overhead net and around the stage. These elements reflected and integrated the surrounding environment and architecture.
Spectacular images, including that of a goddess figure, were projected onto a seamless, 500 square meter net raised 30 meters above the ground by cranes. The surrounding buildings and environment were lit for effect, supporting the performances onstage and virtually expanding the stage into the surrounding city.
